The Pyramid Principle

I've started reading the Minto Pyramid Principle by Barbara Minto.
It promises to help me structure my writing and thinking into some sort of structure

Chapter 1 Logic in Writing
Explains why to use a pyramid and shows how the human mind likes to group things together.

Chapter 2 The Substructures within the Pyramid

Explains that there are three substructures in a pyramid

  1. The Vertical
  2. The Horizontal
  3. The Introductory Flow
  • the vertical relationship as a question/answer dialogue with the reader
  • The Horizontal relationship; split into deductive and inductive logic
  • Deductive being step by step logic requiring each step to be true
  • Inductive logic takes similar reasoning to suggest a truism
